Sepia Girl X: I love the reclining pose she gave us for this quick sketch. The simple values define her chest and her leg as positives where it's actually just the paper. The value on the outside of her and the shadows on her figure are very simple, yet totally descriptive. And the diagonal arms supporting her counter the main axis of the pose. Although I'm not sure it was intentional, I love the way the darks form a triangle which grounds the piece. When you're sketching like this, getting it to feel natural and fresh are key. With over 100 sketchbooks depicting sepia figures lining my bookshelves, this one captures my heart!
Signed prints are $125 each. A discount will be offered for multiple prints purchased.
